Capsule Geology

Thirty to sixty centimetres of impure, gritty diatomite, high in alumina, occurs over an area of 2.4 hectares adjacent Quamichan Lake. The diatomite in this region is of Recent age and mainly unconsolid- ated. The area is underlain by sedimentary rock of the Upper Cretaceous Nanaimo Group.
